Local Trades COVID Heroes

Many tradespeople have gone above and beyond the limits to help the community during COVID- 19, the deadliest pandemic.

UK manufacturer and retailer, ‘SGS engineering’ have launched the ‘local hero’ awards for the most selfless and helpful tradespeople such as plumbers, builders, electricians, gardeners, and mechanics, etc. In addition, these local trades COVID heroes offered their valuable help to those who were in need during the coronavirus crisis.

‘SGS engineering’ awarded a cash prize of £1000 and a Kielder Tool Kit worth £500 to the national winner, and cash prizes worth £250 to five regional winners. These winners provided their services to maintain critical infrastructure or for the safety, sanitation, and operations of residences or businesses.

They served across both domestic and commercial environments keeping safety guidelines in mind. Moreover, they followed physical distancingface-covering, and self-isolation guidelines not only to prevent themselves but also to ensure the safety of their customers.

Ways a tradesman provided extra services

A study of 500 tradespeople revealed that many of them go beyond the people they were working for. Some of the ways a tradesman provided extra services are:

  • Changed a light bulb
  • Helped a customer understand how to use their mobile phone/computer
  • Taken an envelope to the post office
  • Assembled furniture
  • Made recommendations on the property’s security
  • Run an errand
  • Helped to fix a broken-down car
  • Have taken the customers to the hospital when they’ve had an accident.

General Manager of SGS Engineering, ‘Dave Gordon’told that he has heard a lot of stories about tradespeople who helped their communities. He felt incredibly proud to be part of such a committed and caring industry.

They wanted to recognize those tradespeople who really went out of their way to support people in need in their local areas. That’s why they decided to launch the local hero awards.

This award highly motivates the morale and confidence of local trades COVID heroes and others. They are giving their best to serve the customers in this epidemic throughout the UK. Now, the demand for skilled workers has increased in the country.
